Art 13: 3D Concepts | Project #1: Wearable Sculpture
For this project, we had to create a wearable sculpture using cardboard, the theme had to be connected to cultural critique. We used cultural costoming for inspiration on how to fit this sculpture to our body to be worn around. Originally, I chose to do a demon like mask instead of the one I created, but as I got closer to finishing the final product I changed the idea behind the costume. I made it in a wild fly because I thought of nature and how cardboard is made from wood. It became a nature theme and the wings were made so large, so I thought of a fly. My imagination changed and improved my sculpture even though it was not my original idea. I like this newly improved idea and it had more meaning with how the coronavirus pandemic was upon us. It reminded me of how we wanted to be free from the suffocation of being held up in a house.
